featured on the white wren: bridal portraits at glen magna

As a Boston wedding photographer, I believe that continuous growth and creative exploration are essential to delivering exceptional results for my couples. This spring, during the quieter season, I organized an editorial shoot that not only challenged my artistic vision but also showcased the romantic, editorial and candid style that defines my approach to Massachusetts wedding photography.

This editorial is now featured on The White Wren, a bridal magazine, linked here if you want to read it.

The Vision: European Romance Meets New England Charm

Working with bridal and fashion model Kristina Ksander is always a good time.

When planning this bridal portrait session, I drew inspiration from European elegance and vintage romance. My goal was to create images that would appeal to brides seeking both candid moments and stunning artistic portraits – the perfect balance that makes for unforgettable Boston wedding photos.

The styling choices reflected this vision: a corset-backed gown with long, lace-trimmed veil that embodied feminine elegance. Working with stylist Kyleigh Duarte, we curated shoes and jewelry that complemented our romantic aesthetic.

Choosing Glen Magna: The Perfect New England Wedding Venue

For this Massachusetts bridal shoot, Glen Magna was my first choice, and I'm thrilled they granted us a photo permit to capture images on their historic grounds. The venue's stone pillars resemble European architecture while the sprawling lawn in front of the mansion provides the perfect backdrop for cinematic, movement-filled portraits.

Glen Magna represents exactly what many couples love about New England wedding venues – the perfect blend of historic elegance and natural beauty that makes for an elevated wedding photography experience.

Behind the Scenes: Professional Wedding Photography Process

Working with makeup artist Melanie Iandolo, we achieved a dewy, natural look with an elegant half-up hairstyle that perfectly complemented our bride's natural beauty. Meanwhile, our stylist steamed the gown and arranged details while I prepared the florals – a perfect example of the collaborative effort that goes into exceptional wedding photos.

Equipment and Technique: Professional Boston Wedding Photography Approach

For this session, I worked with the same professional equipment I use for Boston weddings:

Digital cameras: Two Sony A7III bodies with 35mm and 85mm prime lenses for crisp, detailed images Film cameras: Contax TVS 35mm, Holga 120N and Yashica Mat 124G medium format for analog film photos.

This dual approach allows me to offer couples both the reliability of digital photography and the romantic, organic feel of film wedding photography – increasingly popular among discerning Boston-area couples.

Working with New England Weather: Professional Adaptability

Late March in Massachusetts presented its challenges – the grounds weren't as green as hoped, and the cold required efficiency and patience. However, this perfectly demonstrates what I bring to every wedding: adaptability, professionalism, and the ability to create beautiful images regardless of New England's unpredictable weather.

With proper planning and a collaborative team, stunning bridal portraits are absolutely achievable, even in challenging conditions.

The Results: Recognition and Professional Growth

I'm thrilled that The White Wren selected these images for feature in their bridal magazine and blog – validation that this editorial successfully showcased the level of artistry Boston-area couples can expect from professional wedding photography services.

This project reinforced my commitment to continuous learning and creative growth, ensuring that every couple receives not just documentation of their day, but true works of art.
